Title templates

You write the shape of your listing title once, and we fill it in for every card.

Every listing title comes from a template you pick once, on Templates and pricing. It applies to every card in every batch, so your titles all look like one shop wrote them.

Your templates are kept on your account, so they follow you to another computer.

The three built in ones

• Standard leads with the year and the set.
• Name first leads with the player or the card name, which reads better in search.
• Card game drops the year and the sport, and it adds the condition.

All three end with the condition code, so a Near Mint card ends in NM.

Writing your own

A template is plain words plus tokens in braces. The editor lists every token as a chip you can click, and it previews the title against a real card as you type.

Each template is one row. It shows the name, the title it makes and how long that title is. You can always type over the name. Press Edit to open the pattern, and Done to close it.

Titles over 80 characters

eBay cuts a title after 80 characters. A title over 80 turns red, on the card and in the table, and the count beside it says how far over you are.

Shorten it yourself, on the card. We do not cut it for you, because a cut title hides what you lost.

Retitling a batch

New cards use your template. To retitle cards already in a batch, tick them, pick More, then Rewrite from a template.

It rewrites the title of every ticked card, including a title you typed. Undo puts them back.
