eBay business policies

eBay makes you set up payment, shipping and return policies before anything can list.

eBay will not take a listing unless your account has payment, shipping and return policies. That is the eBay rule, not ours, and it is the most common reason a first listing fails.

What to do

  1. Connect eBay on Connections.
  2. Register as an eBay seller first if you have not already done that.
  3. Opt into business policies. We can do that for you with one press if eBay has not already.
  4. Make one payment policy, one shipping policy and one return policy in your eBay account.

We refer to your policies by name. Rename one on eBay and you have to reconnect so we pick up the new name.

Which policy a listing uses

On the eBay page, pick a policy of each kind. Leave it on First policy on your account and eBay uses the first policy of that kind it finds.

The ship-from location works the same way. Pick a saved one, or add one there.

Flat-rate shipping lists most reliably. eBay rejects calculated shipping on a listing it thinks is missing a weight.
