Making a batch

One form asks what is in the pile, and then you drop the scans in.

New batch on Batches opens one form. What you set here applies to every card in the batch, and you can change any single card later.

1. Pick the Category. For a card game, pick the language too.
2. Say whether the scans are fronts only or fronts and backs.
3. Name the batch, or leave it blank.
4. Drop the scans in.
5. Check your cards, then press Create batch.

Everything else on the form is optional. The prices and the condition are covered in Batch settings, which is the same form again on a batch you already made.

The batch name is optional. Leave it blank and we name the batch from the category, the language and the day, like "Pokemon (English), 10 Sept". The field shows that name before you start.

Press Save these settings to keep the whole form under a name. Saved settings sit at the top of the form, so the next batch of the same kind is one click.

With the online and in-person split on, the form also asks Where these sell. Online is the default. It is a label, and it changes nothing about listing.

Category

Category is the game or the sport, and a card game also asks for the language. It decides which catalog we check your card against, so a wrong answer means we cannot confirm the card.

The language you pick is the language every card in the batch is read, matched and priced in. Keep one language per batch.

We move a card to its own language when its name is printed in another script and the English catalog does not hold it. The batch tells you how many cards we moved.

Change it on one card later from the card panel.

Which sides you scanned

• Scan a card game fronts only, because every back is the same.
• Scan a sports card on both sides, because the back holds the number, the set and the year.

In a Pokémon batch we tell a front from a back by its picture, and we put each front with its back ourselves. It does not matter which side your scanner saves first.

In any other batch, Fronts and backs pairs each scan with the next one, in the order your scanner numbered them.

Your cards

When the scans are in, Your cards shows every card under the drop. Nothing is scanned until you press Create batch.

Each card shows the front we read beside the back we do not read.

We do not read a Pokémon card back. In a Fronts only batch we leave card backs out, and they do not use a scan.

If a Fronts only batch holds card backs, press Switch to Fronts and backs to keep them as the backs of your cards.

A card with no front, two fronts or two card backs has to be fixed before you can scan.

So does a card whose front scan is a card back. Press Swap, or press Read it as the front anyway.

A card with no back can still be scanned. We read its front only, and the card says so.

A card that asks you to check its back can still be scanned. Its back may belong to the card beside it.

We name any scan missing from your scanner's numbers, and the card to check. We also name any file we left out of the drop, and why.

You can fix any card. Swap turns one card round, and Swap every pair turns every card round.

To move a scan to another card, drag it there. You can also press the scan, then press the place it goes.

The menu on a scan moves it, makes it a card of its own, or removes it.

A card you changed is read exactly as you left it. When the front of a card you left alone is a card back, we read the card from its other side.

A back in a Fronts and backs batch does not use a scan. A card back we skip in a card game batch does not use a scan either.

Which files we take

Save your scans as JPEG, PNG or WebP. A CSV or a text file of cards works too.

We refuse a PDF. Set your scanner to save each card as a JPEG.

Safari opens an iPhone HEIC photo. Chrome and Firefox cannot, so we leave that photo out and name it above your cards.

On an iPhone, pick Most Compatible in Settings > Camera > Formats. You can also add the photo from Phone photos.

A second drop adds to the scans already in the box, and Your cards checks them all again. Press Remove all scans to start again.

Batch size

Your plan sets the most cards one batch holds. If you drop more, we tell you the number when you press Create batch.

Split a bigger pile into two batches. Nothing else changes.

If a batch needs more scans than your plan has left this month, we ask before we scan anything.

You can scan only the cards your scans cover. The rest are listed as not scanned and use no scans.
